Carlsbad, CA – Sunny Makarow has joined Trade Show Executive magazine as managing editor in TSE’s Carlsbad office, succeeding Joan Hamby who is based in Chicago and will remain on TSE’s board of directors.
Makarow, an award-winning editor, has six years experience in publishing. After graduating magna cum laude from California Polytechnic State University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Makarow developed a web-based magazine in the women’s sports sector . Shortly afterwards, she expanded the webzine’s reach by launching a national, subscription-based magazine that was also available at more than 1,000 bookstores, newsstands and specialty stores. She served as its editor and publisher for six years.
At Trade Show Executive, Makarow will handle the day-to-day operations of the magazine, from scheduling and copyediting to readership surveys and sponsorships. “Sunny’s entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on experience in running all divisions of a successful magazine and website will add great strength to Trade Show Executive,” said Darlene Gudea, TSE’s publisher and editor, “particularly as we expand with two new ventures that will be announced in the First Quarter of 2007.”
