Silicon Valley CVB Head Steve Van Dorn Resigning March 31

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Santa Clara, CA – The Santa Clara Convention & Visitors Bureau launched a search for a new leader after Steve Van Dorn announced he would resign as president and CEO of the Bay Area organization this Spring.

Van Dorn will leave office March 31 and will also step down as president and CEO of the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce. The search for a replacement has begun and a possible realignment of the CVB and the chamber was also being explored.

Van Dorn spent 13 years at the helm of the CVB, which is located south of San Francisco in the busy Silicon Valley technology hub. During his tenure, he oversaw the expansion of the ballroom space at the Santa Clara Convention Center, and was a member of the region’s Super Bowl 50 Host Committee.  The venue for the big game was Levi Stadium in Santa Clara County.

The Santa Clara Convention Center has two ballrooms as well as 100,000 square feet of prime exhibit space and 67,500 sf of meeting space. It is ranked 149th on the Trade Show Executive World’s Top Convention Centers, tied with 14 other centers with the same amount of prime space.
