Scranton Gillette Prunes Horticulture Holdings

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Sparta, MI – A trio of trade shows and conferences in the horticulture space were acquired by Great American Media Services for an undisclosed sum.

The deal with Scranton Gillette Communications added Big Grower Executive Summit in Orlando and the two Plant Health Management Conferences to the Great American Media portfolio.

Great American is based in Sparta, MI and produces four agricultural publications. Scranton Gillette launched an edition of its Plant Health Management Conferences in nearby Grand Rapids last year. The second conference launches October 27 in Springfield, MA.

“The sale is a natural addition of products into an existing portfolio of four specialty agriculture publications,” said Nick Curci, president of Corporate Solutions, which advised Scranton Gillette during the negotiations. “Scranton Gillette Communications built and grew these products into a thriving business that has realized an average of 5% annual growth over the past several years.”

Curci said the divestiture allows Scranton Gillette to focus on its publications in six other sectors, including construction, infrastructure and healthcare.
