San Diego CVB CEO Peckinpaugh Stepping Down

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

San Diego, CA – David Peckinpaugh will step down as CEO of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau (ConVis) when his contract expires June 30.

Joe Terzi, who retired this year as senior vice president of Starwood Hotels, was named interim president and CEO of ConVis.

Plans for determining a permanent successor to Peckinpaugh were not announced and ConVis said the separation was amicable.

“We want to respect David’s wishes that in his best interest, and in the interest of his family and the organization, he does not seek to renew or extend his current contract,” said Jim Oddo, chairman of the ConVis board of directors.

Oddo praised Peckinpaugh for his role in the increased scope of the bureau’s national and regional marketing programs, which received a significant boost in funding from the recent creation of San Diego’s Tourism Marketing District.

Peckinpaugh took the position of CEO in 2006 after working in various executive-level sales positions in the hotel industry and as chief marketing officer of Conferon Global Services, which later became Experient, Inc.
