Reed Expanding ALUMINIUM Brand to U.S.; Detroit to Host

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Detroit, MI – A U.S. version of Germany’s ALUMINIUM will be launched this Fall in Detroit by Reed Exhibitions.

Reed said ALUMINUM USA [spelled the traditional way for the U.S. launch] will debut November 11-12 at the refurbished and upgraded Cobo Center in Detroit, the historic home of the U.S. auto industry, which is a major consumer of aluminum.

The U.S. market is the aluminum industry’s third-largest global market with total industry sales of $35 billion. Overall growth reached 30% during the last five years, according to IBISWorld Industry Report, July 2014. Key growth sectors include automotive and aerospace. In the automotive sector alone, the demand for aluminum in the U.S. increased by 22.1% last year.

“The aluminum industry in the United States is all set for further growth,” said Michael Köhler, event director, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH and brand manager of ALUMINIUM Global. “All indicators – key production figures, processing quantities and planned capacity increases – make it clear that demand will continue to grow rapidly in future.”

Reed said about 80 to 100 exhibitors and 2,000 attendees were expected at the first edition of the biennial show. The Aluminum Association, based in Arlington, VA, is a partner.

ALUMINUM USA is the fifth regional show in the Germany-based brand. The others take place in Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Mumbai and Dubai. The flagship show ALUMINIUM is held at Messe Dusseldorf. It drew approximately 25,000 attendees and covered 70,000 net square meters (753,474 square feet) of exhibit space in 2014. “For companies with international operations, the show provides a point of entry to the aluminum industry’s most dynamic markets,” said Hans-Joachim Erbel, CEO, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH.
