Plans Advance for Hotel Serving Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Toronto, ON – A proposed 320-room hotel near Direct Energy Centre in Toronto moved closer to construction when The Board of Governors of Exhibition Place approved the project on October 8.

The proposal for the 26-story HK Hotel will be brought before the City of Toronto Council in December. The hotel is targeted to open in December 2013 and will include 25,000 square feet of meeting/banquet space.

The hotel will be located south of Direct Energy Centre and adjacent to the new Allstream Centre conference facility. It will include extensive green areas and is being designed to meet LEED Silver standards and the Toronto Green Standard for New Construction.

HK Hotels currently operates four upscale boutique hotels in New York City.
