Seven Hills, OH — Pfingsten Publishing LLC has acquired International Investment Conferences, Inc. (IIC). and Resource Investor, LLC. IIC produces conferences and trade shows for the global mining industry; Resource Investor provides a leading educational web site that serves this same market. The new assets will be managed within Pfingsten’s Financial Services Group, which produces magazines, conferences, web sites and educational products. IIC was represented by The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc. (JEGI).
“The Financial Services Group provides information on financial markets, including how to take advantage of a niche. IIC’s properties expand this capability into precious metals,” says Fred Rodgers, Executive Vice President of Pfingsten Publishing.
According to Chuck Hirsch, the Financial Services Group’s Vice President, IIC’s seller, Sandy Lawrence, will continue to work for the conferences as an advisor. Robert Pearce, IIC’s Director, told Trade Show Executive, “This partnership will provide IIC with the expansion capital and deep media expertise needed to franchise its successful events business into other media products.” Management of the portfolio is expected to broaden existing business and launch new products and services to meet a growing demand in the global mining industry.
In addition to the Financial Services Group, Pfingsten Publishing also serves the decorative and fine art markets through its International Art and Framing Group.
In 2004, the company acquired the assets of the Advanstar Art Group from Advanstar Communications, which complemented Pfingsten’s existing art properties. The company’s current portfolio includes seven trade shows in its art division, roughly 25 conferences in the Financial Services Group and two industrial conferences. The acquisition of IIC adds five professional and retail conferences.
