Orlando’s David Sargent to Join CCTB as Senior VP

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Chicago, IL – David Sargent, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, has accepted a similar position with the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB), effective at the end of August.

The newly created position puts Sargent in charge of the CCTB sales force and will develop new meetings, convention and trade show business.

“In response to the increasingly intense competition within our industry we felt we needed to add more ‘firepower’ to our already strong team led by Mark Theis and Mark Tunney, and Dave fits that bill perfectly,” said Tim Roby, CCTB president and CEO.

Sargent joined the Orlando bureau in 2007 as part of an integration of leisure and convention sales resources. Prior to that, he had been director of sales and marketing for Hiltons of Chicago, and also had hotel sales experience in Washington, DC and New York.

“Dave has an unmatched knowledge of the meetings and convention business and a stellar reputation within the hotel community,” said Roby.

Sargent said he was pleased to be returning to Chicago and sees the Windy City’s facilities and reputation in the exhibition industry as strong selling points.
