Newest Reed President, Hervé Sedky, Takes the Stage at Gold 100 Power Lunch

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Santa Barbara, CA – Reed Exhibitions’ Hervé Sedky will be the guest of honor for the Power Lunch session at the Trade Show Executive (TSE) Gold 100 Awards & Summit, September 30-October 1.

It was just about a year ago that Sedky became regional president of Reed Exhibitions Americas after a 22-year career with American Express. The Gold 100 Summit will mark the first time he will take the stage at a trade show industry event. Hervé will give Gold honorees a view of the global exhibition business from the perspective of someone who helped run a company ranked 90th on the prestigious Fortune 500. Meanwhile, Reed placed a half dozen shows on the latest Gold 100 rankings, one of the highest totals of any single organizer.

Sedky was senior vice president and general manager of American Express’s Global Business Travel division when he joined Reed. He now oversees Reed’s operations in North and South America, including the company’s U.S. portfolio, and is a member of Reed’s worldwide board of directors.

Sedky stepped into the lunch hour session after outgoing Reed Executive Chairman Mike Rusbridge was forced to send his regrets due to a pressing family matter.

Sedky will have a fireside chat during lunch with one of the nation’s leading association executives, Megan Tanel, who is Vice President of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and 2014-15 IAEE Chair. There will also be plenty of opportunity for Gold 100 attendees to get to know Sedky during the many networking opportunities at this year’s event. The Gold 100 Awards & Summit takes place at the seaside Bacara Resort & Spa in scenic Santa Barbara, CA.

SUMMER STILL IN SESSION
“Early Autumn is a perfect time of year to visit California and the Bacara is rolling out the welcome mat and the red carpet for this elite gathering of top show organizers,” Gudea said.

Reed will be well-represented at the event, along with other organizers such as Emerald Expositions, Advanstar Communications, SEMA — the Specialty Equipment Market Association, HIMSS, Penton, and many others so act now to register and secure space in the room block before the September 8 reservation deadline. See “Look Who’s Coming” to see who else will be there.

The Bacara is rated one of the “Top 5 Resorts in Southern California” by Conde Nast Traveler, and has been recognized in three separate categories by the Forbes Travel Guide.  The Bacara embodies the romance of the California Hacienda style and will be a fitting locale for the annual salute to the biggest and best trade shows of 2014.

THE OSCARS OF EXHIBITIONS
The Gold 100 is the annual ranking of the shows with the largest exhibit areas. But along with sheer size, top shows are recognized for these achievements in several other areas of innovation and excellence.  These top-tier events — and the talented people who make them happen — will be saluted on the evening of September 30 with the presentation of the Gold Grand Awards at the Gold 100 Awards Gala.

The gala caps a full schedule of socializing, golf and educational sessions that help make the Gold 100 Awards & Summit a productive and perfect way to head into the home stretch of 2015.
