New Events Extend Reed Exhibitions’ Presence in Mexico

TSE STAFF

Norwalk, CT – Reed Exhibitions today announced it has acquired the Expo Beauty Show and Expo America Show to expand its presence in Mexico. The two events draw more than 70,000 attendees annually to the Centro Banamex in Mexico City and feature nearly 300 exhibitors in  approximately 20,000 square metres of exhibit space (about 215,000 square feet). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Expo Beauty Show is in its 18th year and is the leading beauty show in Mexico for the hair care and beauty salon industries. Expo Lighting America was launched in 2010 and is the only show in Mexico focused solely on commercial and domestic lighting.

Reed is expected to hire all of the Mexico-based staff to provide continuity for the event. The current event owners, Jorge Fernando Rodrigues Cerdan and Luis Alfonso Mexia Trimayer, will continue to provide guidance for the two events.

The new events join Reed’s existing portfolio of Expo Seguridad; which will take place April 8-19 in Mexico City and Expo Ferretera set for August in Guadalajara.

“The acquisition adds scale and capabilities in support of our growing business platform in Mexico,” said Nancy Walsh, executive vice president for Reed Exhibitions North America. Walsh, who oversees the company’s expansion in Mexico, said the primary focus is to create greater value for customers and companies doing business in Mexico.
