Chatsworth, CA – Neal Vitale says he will be stepping down as CEO of 1105 Media, Inc., the publishing and event company that he helped found, sometime in the coming weeks.
Vitale told Trade Show Executive that he would be leaving to tackle “other challenges” outside the company, and that he was “weighing several different directions” but had nothing further to announce.
The 1105’s board has launched a search for a successor with Jeffrey Klein expanding his role on the board to executive chairman. A specific date for Vitale’s departure was not set.
Vitale founded 1105 in 2006 in a partnership with Alta Communications and Nautic Partners. The Southern California company produces specialty publications and conferences for IT, government, security and public health sectors.
Vitale is a former executive with Reed Business Information, Aspen Marketing Group and Petersen Publishing. At Reed, he had been group vice president of entertainment, where he was responsible for Variety, Daily Variety, Broadcasting & Cable, Moving Pictures International, On Production and Tradeshow Week. He is the 2013-2014 chairman of American Business Media, and a past member of the board of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO).
