Messe Frankfurt USA Reorganizes Management Team

Atlanta, GA – Messe Frankfurt USA Inc., a subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, has reorganized its management team. “Kathryn Fitts and Dennis Smith are the new leadership team at Messe Frankfurt USA Inc.,” announced Detlef Braun, member of the board of management for Messe Frankfurt. “With this step, Messe Frankfurt implements its leadership model of shared responsibility between the operations and the administrative part of the business in the U.S. market like other Messe Frankfurt subsidiaries around the globe.”

John Gallagher, who had been serving as president and CEO since January 2012, has decided to move in a different direction. Smith has been serving as vice president of sales, and Fitts has been serving as vice president of finance & administration. New titles have not yet been announced.

In 2012, Messe Frankfurt North America generated $8.2 million in revenues, representing 4% of total revenue generated outside of Germany. The subsidiary, which was launched in 1991, employs 30 people who manage and produce eight events in North America, as well as handle exhibitor sales and attendee acquisition for Messe Frankfurt’s 109 events worldwide in 2012.

Messe Frankfurt USA produces Texworld USA, a semi-annual event held in New York. Texworld USA (Winter Edition) was named one of Trade Show Executive’s Fastest 50 growing shows in the U.S., growing exhibiting companies by 10.2% and total attendance by 22.5% from 2011 to 2012. With record sales of US $708.5 million in 2012, Messe Frankfurt is now the fourth largest trade show organizer in the world. Messe Frankfurt, which has 28 subsidiaries worldwide and 50 international sales partners, drew 78,500 exhibitors in 2012. Messe Frankfurt is a publicly owned company with the City of Frankfurt holding 60% and the State of Hesse holding 40%.
