McCabe Steps Down as GM of Advanstar’s MAGIC events

TSE STAFF

Woodland Hills, CA – Chris McCabe stepped down as general manager of MAGIC International and its portfolio of fashion trade shows. Advanstar Communications said McCabe had commitments on the East Coast that led him to resign.

McCabe had been on the job since the Summer of 2006. He came to Advanstar and MAGIC after a successful run with Reed Exhibitions. He had been manager of BookExpo America, the PGA Merchandise Show and other large shows.

He took over the reins of an event that is the largest fashion trade show in North America.  Held twice annually in Las Vegas, the MAGIC Marketplace draws more than 4,000 exhibitors displaying their Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer lines. The Aug. 27-30, 2007 edition reported 120,000 attendees who filled the Las Vegas Convention Center and spilled on to The Strip for a round of high-profile parties sprinkled with celebrity designers and entertainers seeking to establish their own clothing lines.

The next MAGIC Marketplace will be held Feb. 12-15.

A replacement was not immediately named.
