New York – LeftField Media LLC and Tubefilter Inc. on Tuesday announced the launch of Stream Con NYC, a new age digital content convention that will stage its inaugural event October 30-November 1 at the Jacob K Javits Center. The launch will debut just a little more than a year after LeftField Media was formed by former ReedPOP senior vice president Greg Topalian and three other partners with Business Journals Inc.

Tubefilter is the leading source for YouTube and online video industry news and events. It stages the Streamy Awards to honor the best in online video and its creators.

Stream Con NYC intends to provide a hybrid conference and exhibition  that serves the needs of advertising, licensing, branding and publishing while also embracing the enthusiastic fans of digital content and its creators. Topalian, now president of LeftField Media, said it is an effort to help connect digital content providers with a new audience and enable creators to connect face to face with their fans.

“Ever since founding New York Comic Con, I have wanted to build events that provide unique and culturally rich access and connection between companies and their buyers and consumers,” Topalian said.

For the five years Topalian headed ReedPOP, he focused almost entirely on enthusiast events, expanding the portfolio to 15 events and launching PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo. Now Stream Con will strive to bring all the elements together. The three-day festival includes a Stream Con Industry Summit designed to help industry leaders figure out where they stand with the digital influencers who impact consumer decisions. There will also be two days of industry-related programming and will have access to popular personalities in the digital worlds of entertainment, comedy, music, beauty and fashion.

Stream Con will offer one- to three-day fan passes, an industry summit pass and a creator camp pass to accommodate all facets of the digital media environment. Industry and fan events will be interspersed throughout the event, which also will offer an exhibition of approximately 100,000 gross sf with sections for emerging talent, technology, fashion, entertainment, games and electronics, books, food and beverage and brand zones with retail space.

“The focus of this new business will be on building culture and celebrating communities regardless of whether they are B2B or B2C,” he said.
