LeftField and JD Events Team Up to Grow Chicago Audio Show

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Norwalk, CT – The newly formed show organizer LeftField Media has joined forces with JD Events to kick-start the growth of JD’s recently acquired Audio Expo North America (AXPONA).

The partnership gives LeftField the lead role in marketing, content development and community building for the enthusiast event. JD Events remains in charge of show management, operations and sales.

The role in AXPONA is the first taken up by LeftField. The company was launched this Fall by President Greg Topalian, former senior vice president of Reed Exhibitions, and a cadre of senior executives at Business Journals, Inc., including President & CEO Britton Jones and vice presidents Mac Brighton and Sharon Enright.

The next AXPONA takes place April 24-26 at the Westin O’Hare in Chicago. The event is open to the public with one-day tickets available for $15.

AXPONA offer audiophiles and musicians a series of seminars and live music. Exhibitors provide listening rooms and other opportunities for demonstrations of the latest equipment.

JD Events acquired AXPONA in 2013 and brought in LeftField to take the brand to the next level. “This is a unique combination of talent and understanding of the marketplace,” said CEO Joel Davis. “We will continue to develop sales and operations while Greg will bring his expertise in content and marketing, in order to grow the AXPONA audience well beyond anything we could have achieved on our own.”

“This arrangement with AXPONA is a perfect fit,” said Topalian, who earned a solid reputation at Reed for developing trade-consumer events such as New York Comic Con. “I am excited to tap into the energy fueled by the audio and music fan, and I want to help create an experience that takes AXPONA to the next level.”
