Woodland Hills, CA – Laura McConnell, executive vice president of Advanstar’s Fashion Group and a ten-year veteran of Advanstar, will be leaving the company on Sept. 14 to pursue new opportunities.
McConnell was promoted to the position in June 2006 after four years as vice president and general manager of the group. During her tenure, she launched the Sourcing Zone at MAGIC; expanded into adjacent markets; built strategic alliances; and dramatically increased revenue, net square footage and attendance. MAGIC Marketplace, held semi-annually, is one of the ten largest trade shows in the nation. The show is a part of the Fashion & Licensing Group at Advanstar, the sector which contributes 48% of Advanstar’s annual revenues.
The search for her replacement has begun and several candidates have been interviewed for the position. The next show is in 16 days in Las Vegas.
