Las Vegas Sands Chief Sheldon Adelson Highlights SISO Conference

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Las Vegas, NV – Sheldon Adelson, chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., and one of the ultimate high rollers in the trade show industry, highlights the March 30-April 2 SISO CEO Summit at the Four Seasons Hotel and Spa in the city that made him famous.

Adelson parlayed his ownership stake in the legendary and groundbreaking COMDEX show in the 1980s into a worldwide gaming and convention empire that also thrust him into the elite ranks of “casino moguls” and one of the founders of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO).

The theme of this year’s event is “Bold Moves,” and there isn’t a lot about Sheldon Adelson’s career that hasn’t been bold. Las Vegas Sands has carved out a key role in the Las Vegas exhibition industry. It owns the huge Sands Expo & Convention Center plus the Venetian and The Palazzo, two of the city’s major trade show hotels.

Adelson was also a pioneer in opening the Asian exhibition market. Las Vegas Sands is a keystone of the development of Macau’s convention and tourism industry and created the landmark Marina Bay Sands on Singapore’s waterfront.

Adelson and SISO Executive Director Lew Shomer will recall the pivotal moments in Adelson’s ongoing hot streak and look into the future of the trade show industry during a one-on-one conversation in front of an audience of leading show organizers. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask their own questions and trade observations on the industry’s direction.

Adelson tops an agenda that also includes a series of panel discussions featuring many of the top executives in the for-profit show industry and some of the largest and busiest venues in the U.S. Insights from the exhibitor side will come from Amazon’s Executive Vice President of Procurement Derek Richards and Vice President of Marketing John Bizzare.

As always, there will be ample networking opportunities, and the Four Seasons is flush with comfortable nooks, crannies and other public areas for private discussions. Many deals are made on the golf course, and SISO will hit the links on the afternoon of April 1 between the closing of the panel presentations and the closing night banquet.
