Houston’s Convention Centers are High and Dry After Texas-Sized Deluge

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Houston, TX – Houston’s convention centers weathered this week’s torrential rainstorms without any impact on scheduled activities.  Houston Hobby Airport recorded 7.4 inches of rain on June 19 while other parts of the sprawling metro area experienced more than 10 inches of rain. Officials from the George R. Brown Convention Center said the brunt of the June 19 storm skirted the downtown area where move-in for the Institute of Internal Auditors annual meeting proceeded without interruption. No problems were reported either at the Reliant Park complex where move-in remained on schedule and, appropriately enough, the Houston Summer Boat Show was scheduled to run June 21-25.
