ATLANTA — The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) picked up two awards during the International Economic Development Council conference in Atlanta in recognition of its work with the Fashion Hong Kong campaign at New York Fashion Week.

HKTDC won the Gold Excellence in Economic Development Award in the Special Event category and Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award in the Paid Advertising Campaign category.

The Fashion Hong Kong campaign was implemented to promote Hong Kong designers and labels in the global fashion arena. It provides a venue to showcase the creativity of Hong Kong designers, while at the same time enabling them to explore business opportunities in the international marketplace.

Anthony Mak, HKTDC’s Director for New York, called Fashion Hong Kong an “extensive marketing program” that includes runway shows, market visits, business meetings and more. The Fashion Hong Kong campaign provides economic benefits to both the United States and Hong Kong by creating jobs and “fostering business development in the fashion and creative industries,” between the U.S. and Hong Kong, Mak told Trade Show Executive. Since it began at New York Fashion Week in 2016, Fashion Hong Kong has brought nine fashion collections and 35 accessories brands to the event.

“The Fashion Hong Kong campaign tactically promotes brand awareness for the event through selected media channels and social media platforms in the U.S. market. Over time, this strategy has built a consistent image of Hong Kong as a trend-setting hub for fashion,” Mak added.

During the annual New York Fashion Week, held in February, the Fashion Hong Kong show brought three Hong Kong fashion brands to the Big Apple to launch their fall and winter 2018 collections.
