Santa Monica, CA – After a six-month process of evaluations and interviews, the board of directors of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) awarded a management contract to Shomex Productions and named Lew Shomer the executive director. Shomer was SISO’s chairman in 2004 and served on SISO’s Board of Directors for nine years. His firm produces career fairs in numerous cities throughout the U.S.
Shomex will work with The Rebedeau Group to effect the transition and will take the reigns at the end of the year. The Rebedeau Group has managed the association since 2000. The SISO board recognized Mary Beth Rebedeau and her team for SISO’s considerable growth and improvements in every area.
The search committee consisted of SISO chairman Carl Pugh of Radius Events and Britton Jones of Business Journals, who headed the committee. Other committee members included Don Pazour of Access Intelligence; Sean Guerre of The TradeFair Group/Access Intelligence; and Nancy Hasselback of Diversified Business Communications.
SISO was founded in 1990. Its membership includes owners, CEOs, presidents and senior executives of for-profit event management companies such as Reed Exhibitions, Nielsen Business Media and Advanstar Communications. SISO said Shomex and Lew Shomer became the front runners due to their event industry insight and experience, strong involvement in SISO, vision and historical perspective.
