Eduardo Chaillo Among Global Managers Named for Maritz Travel

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

St. Louis, MO – Eduardo Chaillo, a long-time leader of Mexico’s trade show industry, was one of three new global general managers for Maritz Travel and Experient who were introduced February 25.

Chaillo is the owner of Global Meetings and Tourism Specialists LLC and a member of the board of trustees for the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). As global general manager for Maritz Travel Company, he will expand the company’s presence in all of Latin America.

Other global managers include Ping He, an Experient veteran who will oversee the Asia-Pacific market, and Ben Goedegebuure, most recently sales director for the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow, who will be in charge of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Maritz said the positions were created to solidify the company’s ability to service trade shows and the MICE industry on a global basis. “As client needs grow beyond geographical borders, the ways that organizations design and deliver experiences can vary based upon geography and guest audiences,” said David Peckinpaugh, president of Maritz Travel Company, who is also a PCMA board member. “Eduardo, Ben and Ping all have a deep understanding of the broad industry and their respective regions, which provides us with an opportunity to present clients with a more balanced and localized approach.”

Eduardo Chaillo spent a dozen years with the Mexico Tourism Board and was inducted into the Convention Industry Council Hall of Leaders in 2013. He is the international liaison to the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Board and a member of the board of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

Ping He is already well-versed in Maritz’s operations. She has been with Experient for more than 20 years and is considered a lead architect of Experient’s global service strategy. This led to the establishment of Experient’s Global Sourcing Division, representing an average of 400 meetings in 120 cities and 50 countries annually with bookings ranging from 50 to 25,000 attendees. She was named the first-ever Global Meetings Executive of the Year by PCMA and IMEX in 2012.

Goedegebuure was director of sales and marketing for Congrex Group before joining the SECC eight years ago. He helped lead the formation of the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Center’s strategic partnerships with PCMA and ICCA. He is also on the advisory board for The Americas Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (AIBTM).

Chaillo and Ping will be based in the U.S. and Goedegebuure in The Netherlands.
