Portland, ME – Diversified Communications announced the Fall 2015 launch of a new trade show for drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
Commercial UAV Expo debuts October 5-7 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Show organizers projected around 80 exhibitors and 1,000 attendees at the first show for an industry that is both on the rise and a close fit to Diversified’s SPAR Point Group portfolio of shows for precision optics, 3D imaging, and data capture.
“We have been listening to our customers and watching the market for some time,” said Lisa Murray, director of Commercial UAV Expo. “This event is a natural extension of our product portfolio in the 3D technology market.”
SPAR Point Group, a subsidiary of Diversified, organizes four conferences in the U.S., Asia and Europe for 3D and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) mapping.
Drones have become established within the military and government intelligence agencies, but as the mysterious machines become smaller, less expensive and more capable, they have piqued the interest of law enforcement, agriculture, the mining and security industries, and utilities.
The ability of a UAV to provide a bird’s eye view and mapping capabilities to such customers is considered a draw for the pool of exhibitors that provide the necessary camera and data equipment. “In speaking with providers in the UAV sector, it’s clear that an event focused on industries suited to small UAVs is needed,” Murray said.
Along with exhibits, the new event will host a two-day conference program with sessions covering new technology options, ideas for commercial applications, and the evolving regulatory environment.
The announcement of the Commercial UAV Expo comes four months after a Dutch joint venture announced it was organizing a similar exhibition for the drone industry. TUSExpo debuts in February at World Forum in The Hague.
