Portland, ME – Diversified Business Communications moved into the Hong Kong market by acquiring a majority stake in Asia Business Events, Ltd. (ABE), the organizers of two trade shows in the hospitality and retail sectors.
ABE will be rechristened Diversified Events Hong Kong and give Maine-based Diversified Business Communications a presence in a bustling Chinese market that some analysts predict will be among the first to emerge from the worldwide economic downturn.
“This partnership continues on our success of establishing beachheads around the world,” said Nancy Hasselback, president and CEO of Diversified Business Communications. “It will provide an infrastructure we can use to launch and acquire other events in the region.”
Diversified Events Hong Kong will include members of the ABE staff but will be led by Matthew Pearce, who is also managing director of Diversified Exhibitions Australia.
Diversified Business Communications also has operations in Canada and Great Britain, as well as the U.S. Its portfolio includes food and hospitality shows.
ABE currently operates Restaurant & Bar Hong Kong and will launch Retail Asia Expo & Conference June 24-26, 2009.
