Chatsworth, CA – Dick Blouin, a former president of IDG World Expo, will run trade shows and other live events for 1105 Media, Inc. The tech industry veteran will report to president and CEO Neal Vitale and will work with the various operating groups in developing their existing events and on possible acquisitions.
“Dick will play an important role helping us to identify and complete additional acquisitions,” Vitalie said in announcing Blouin’s hiring January 9. “He will provide savvy leadership and direction as we grow our event portfolio.
The Southern California company was formed in the Spring of 2006 for the purpose of acquiring Stevens Publishing and 101 Communications, LLC. The company now has a portfolio of more than 50 live events, including trade shows, conferences and seminars. In December, the company reached an agreement with The Washington Post Company to acquire Post Newsweek Tech Media, the government publishing events group that produces the FOSE trade show.
Prior to joining IDG in 2005, Blouin worked for New York equity firm Warburg Pincus and was also with The Interface Group, producers of the COMDEX show.
