Core-apps Acquires Medical Conference Note-Taking App

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Arnold, MD – Core-apps has entered into an agreement to acquire a note-taking mobile app developed for medical conference attendees by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

Core-apps plans to take the Conference Notes iPad app beyond the hallowed halls of medicine to a wider audience of conference attendees early next year. “Show organizers with a medical or scientific focus will soon be able to include this functionality as an add-on to their event app,” said Core-apps CEO Jay Tokosch.

Conference Notes streamlines the ability of users to follow sessions while taking notes on their iPad and engaging with other attendees. AstraZeneca developed the app with scientific presentations in mind, and will continue to offer it at medical conferences under the terms of the agreement with Core-apps.

Conference Notes is already a popular iTunes download for medical conferences, but Core-apps has its sights set on a wider range of events. “Our expertise can help make this tool more accessible, both within the medical industry and to markets such as life sciences, higher education and beyond.” Tokosch said. “There are similar standalone apps in the marketplace, but Core-apps will be the only platform in the trade show and event space to offer a totally integrated solution.”

A first priority will be to adapt Conference Notes to Android and other operating systems. “The acquisition of Conference Notes fits all the qualifiers for our growth roadmap, especially scaling functionality based on user demand,” said Tokosch.

Core-apps said the deal was expected to close by the end of the year. A pilot launch is planned for December with a full release in the First Quarter of 2017.
