Chet Burchett to Assume CEO Duties at Reed Exhibitions in the U.K.; Sedky Steps in as President of the Americas

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Richmond, UK – Chet Burchett will relocate to the U.K. in January and become CEO of Reed Exhibitions, taking over some of the duties of current CEO and Executive Chairman Mike Rusbridge.

Burchett is currently Regional President, The Americas, and has been based in Connecticut. He joined the company in 2004 and played a major role in expanding the world’s largest trade show organization.

Burchett’s successor is Herve Sedky, who will join Reed on September 15. Sedky spent the last 22 years with American Express Company and was most recently senior vice president and general manager of its Global Business Travel Division.

Juan Pablo De Vera, president of Reed’s Brazil division, will report to Sedky, as will Nancy Walsh, who was recently promoted to president of Reed Exhibitions North America.

Rusbridge, who has spent more than 20 years in his current position, said the promotions and addition to the executive team comes at a time of aggressive growth. “As both chairman and CEO, I believe that now is the right time to separate these roles to ensure we remain focused on our strategic direction while executing well on the objectives we set ourselves each year,” he said.

Rusbridge added that Burchett had built a solid record in developing new pricing initiatives and customer insight models and was instrumental in directing Reed’s further expansion in Mexico and South America and other global initiatives. “I am confident that Reed, under Chet’s management, will continue to provide innovative solutions to our customers’ needs and achieve the ambitious growth targets we have set ourselves,” he said.

Reed runs more than 500 events in 42 countries.
