Reed Picks Up Three U.S. Shows in Mack Brooks Acquisition

LONDON – Reed Exhibitions acquired Mack Brooks Exhibitions and its portfolio of more than 30 events, including three held in the U.S.

Reed said the trade shows that Mack Brooks produces in nine industry sectors, related primarily to manufacturing, will benefit from Reed’s international sales, matchmaking programs and other event technologies. “Mack Brooks is widely recognized as a market-leading exhibitions organizer,” said Reed CEO Chet Burchett. “Bringing these shows together with Reed Exhibitions’ own strengths in delivering customer value and innovation represents an exceptional opportunity.”

Terms of the sale were not announced. The transaction was expected to close during the first half of 2019. “I am extremely positive about the future of Mack Brooks as part of Reed Exhibitions,” said Mack Brooks Chairman Stephen Brooks. “Our events and customers will benefit tremendously from Reed’s global reach, experience in delivering customer value and investment in technology.”

Mack Brooks, which launched in Britain in 1965, has a base portfolio of various flagship shows held in the United Kingdom and Germany. Many of those brands have been expanded to shows held in Asia, Europe and the U.S. The American events include the annual Fastener Fair USA, which launched in Cleveland in 2018, and the co-located printing industry events Inprint USA and ICE USA, which take place in Louisville.

Reed declined to comment when asked by Trade Show Executive about any course changes coming to the trio of U.S. shows, saying the company was required to wait until the sale formally closed.
