DALLAS – The new board of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) took their seats in January, officially launching an agenda for 2019 that includes an in-depth exploration of finding and maintaining show sponsorships.

Robert McLean, Executive Vice President of the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), was sworn in as Chair of the CEIR board of directors for 2019. He succeeded Tom Cindric, Senior Vice President of Informa Global Exhibitions, who became Immediate Past Chairman of CEIR and will also serve as the 2019 Chair of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events.

“CEIR provides invaluable research to guide participants in the trade show industry,” said McLean. “I am honored to be the Chairperson of such an important organization and look forward to working with its dedicated staff and board members.”

CEIR said its 2019 production would be highlighted by the release of the remaining reports in the Attendee ROI Playbook Series as well as new additions to the Industry Insights Series. The organization also produces the CEIR Index Report that takes the pulse of the current state of the trade show industry and is the main topic of discussion at the annual CEIR Predict conference.

A new project underway is a review of current sponsorship programs and best practices. “CEIR provides useful tools to help the industry and its members grow, from research on attendee retention and the changing environment of the trade show industry to the annual CEIR Index Report,”McLean said.

The research program will be led by Ian Sequeria, Vice President, Research & Measurement, Freeman. Segueria is Chairperson of the 2019 CEIR Research Council, which recommends various initiatives to the CEIR board. “I look forward to another successful year of providing our industry with highly relevant and actionable data and insights,” he said.
