ALM Puts Henry Dicker in Charge of New Event Division

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

New York, NY – Henry Dicker was promoted to vice president of global events at ALM and will oversee the company’s worldwide portfolio of trade shows and conferences for the real estate and legal profession.

Dicker had been vice president, legal events & Legaltech managing director for ALM and spent the 1990s as a group director for Miller Freeman and Advanstar Communications. He joined ALM in late 1999.

The promotion was part of a global expansion of ALM’s events, led by the Legaltech brand, and includes events in the U.S., Asia and Europe.  Legaltech in New York last year drew 13,000 attendees and more than 300 exhibitors.

Bill Carter, CEO of ALM, brought his teams in a proverbial huddle the past several weeks to clarify priorities and identify untapped opportunities for growth. “These conversations helped surface the unique opportunities that events present for growth through monetization of our award-winning journalism and research,” Carter said.  “The new structure will address our customers’ marketing objectives by providing unparalleled networking and lead generation opportunities that only ALM’s combined business can provide.”

The new division generates roughly $35 million in revenue. Dicker will report to Molly Miller, who was named chief content officer and chief marketing officer. The teams reporting to Henry include Gene Beil, ALM Events Canada; Dan Rubinetti, Insurance/Investment Advisory/Legal Events; and Emily Lettieri, Real Estate Events. In addition, the CLE business unit will now report to Henry including Charles Garnar and Dominika Wilk.

“We have a unique reporting structure in that I report directly in to Molly Miller, chief content officer,” said Dicker. “This emphasizes the importance ALM places on its award-winning editorial content and is our biggest differentiator to some of the other great event and conference organizers in the markets we serve.”

Dicker will speak on the Mavericks panel at TSE’s Fastest 50, May 19-21 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
