August notched a 0.5% increase in exhibitor space, a sharp contrast from the 3.6% drop in August 2017. Also, there were 20 August shows this year, compared to only 15 in 2017. While exhibitors dipped 0.6%, that’s much improved over August 2017’s 5.0% tumble. ...

Food ingredients North America (FiNA) debuts Oct. 15-19 at Mandalay Bay alongside SupplySide West, and will bring together two of Informa’s leading brands in the food, beverage and nutritional supplements sectors. The Food ingredients brand was part of UBM prior to Informa’s acquisition of UBM last year. The portfolio includes shows in Europe, South America and Asia. ...
Representatives of Informa Exhibitions and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) will meet with their major stakeholders to discuss ideas to accommodate exhibitors and attendees who will otherwise have to decide which of the two February shows to attend. The idea for the meeting, which the two organizations refer to as a “footwear industry roundtable,” came about after it was revealed that the FFANY’s New York Shoe Expo in Manhattan on Feb. 5-7 takes place on the same days as the Informa’s WWDMAGIC in Las Vegas. Both have pledged to start coordinating their show calendars in the future, and for now, to look for ways to enable customers to take part in both February events. ...
The landmark National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show was acquired by Winsight LLC, a private event organizer and high-profile B2B publisher in the food and restaurant industry. The National Restaurant Association (NRA) staff that has been running the show since its launch nearly 100 years ago, will join Winsight, including Mary Pat Heftman, Executive Vice President, Convention & Strategic Alliances. As part of the deal, Heftman was named President of Winsight’s Restaurant Group. The sale is expected to close by the end of the year. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ...
ITE Group plc, the new owners of the education-technology trade show Bett, formed an attendee-sharing partnership with the Learnit conference, which will run in London during the same week as Bett next year. ITE acquired the show this summer as part of a £300 million acquisition of Ascential Events Limited. New features at the Jan. 23-26 Bett in London include a new layout of the show floor and the EdTech leader and global visitor programs for key attendees.The Bett acquisition was part of a busy year for ITE. The German organizers of Eurobike are launching their second bicycle exhibition in Asia next year at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok. The new show, called “ASEANBIKE powered by Eurobike,” debuts Oct. 3-5, 2019. It will be organized by Messe Friedrichshafen in cooperation with Thailand’s N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer, which has produced International Bangkok Bike for the past decade. The 2017 show in Nanjing featured 30,000 gross square meters (322,917 square feet) of exhibit space and 5,909 attendees. ...

The new Albany Capital Center (ACC) is teaming up with a pair of small-college athletic conferences to launch a tournament and conference for competitive video gaming next year. The event will accommodate more than 800 spectators. It will also feature a conference on competitive video gaming and an exhibition with space for around 50 vendors. The exhibitors will include area colleges, game developers, and lifestyle brands. The ACC includes 22,500 square-feet (sf) of ballroom and exhibit space, six meeting rooms totaling 9,200 sf and 13,500 sf of pre-function space. ...
