Secaucus, N.J. — Northstar Travel Group announced its second acquisition of 2017 in the hotel sector when it picked up HotelsWorld, which serves senior hospitality executives and investors in Australia and New Zealand.

HotelsWorld will be added to Northstar’s growing portfolio of events for the hotel and hospitality sectors, including the 10-event portfolio of hospitality investment events of the Burba Hotel Network (BHN) acquired in May.

“We believe that the addition of HotelsWorld to BHN’s portfolio of global hotel investment conferences is an important step in building out the global leadership role of BHN within the hotel investment industry,” said Tom Kemp, Chairman and CEO of Northstar Travel Group. “The underlying growth of the Australian and New Zealand hotel, travel and tourism business is a strong driver in making this strategic investment.”

HotelsWorld was formerly owned by Hotels World Australia Pty Ltd and includes four specialized conferences held over three days in Sydney and draws around 500 attendees. HotelsWorld 2018 will be held July 24-26 at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

Kemp said exhibiting opportunities were offered to the event’s sponsors. John Smith, the founder and co-owner of Hotels World Australia, will continue to be involved with management of HotelsWorld; the Australian law firm Ashurst will continue as the event’s co-host along with BHN.

“Northstar’s ownership of HotelsWorld is an exciting development in the growth of the event and is a further indication of the increasing importance of hotels and hospitality in this region,” said Smith. “I am confident that their involvement will build on the momentum we have created and take HotelsWorld to the next level.”
