Dallas -- The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) honored Access Intelligence LLC CEO Don Pazour with its 2018 Legend of the Industry award during the Krakoff Leadership Institute (KLI) held at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center in Savannah, Ga. This year’s title partner of the event was Synchronicities, a three-city partnership between Anaheim, Baltimore and San Antonio.

Pazour, who previously led a U.S. division of UBM, is known as a leader who was instrumental in a host of acquisitions that helped build trade show portfolios. He launched his media career as an editor of a mining magazine, which led to launching a mining summit in Mexico. That hooked him on face-to-face events. Since then, he has led numerous acquisitions that helped build trade show portfolios. He also is a past chairman and member of SISO’s board of directors and former board member of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR).

Pazour sees his role as finding leaders who understand the communities they serve and are eager to deliver profitable experiences for their customers. “My philosophy has always been one of collaboration and support with my fellow colleagues, and I have been fortunate to work with industry leaders who have inspired me throughout my career,” he said in a statement acknowledging the award.

“The heart of our industry is our ability to create productive and enjoyable connections for attendees at our trade shows,” Pazour told Trade Show Executive. “The future of face-to-face business experiences is strong now … but the future leaders of our industry need to use their imaginations, the power of technology and the demands of a new generation of customers to maximize our growth and value to the economy,” he added.

The Krakoff Leadership Institute was formerly known as the Future Leaders Institute. It was renamed in 2009 after the death of industry legend Robert L. Krakoff in 2008. Today, IAEE presents the Legends of the Industry award annually during the Krakoff Leadership Institute.

Since 2009, honorees have included Freeman Chairman Donald S. Freeman Jr. (2009); Jacqueline Russo (2010); Bob Dallmeyer (2011); Patricia Farias-Barlow (2012); Galen Poss (2013); Doug Ducate (2014); Lawson Hockman (2015); TSE’s first publisher and editor Darlene Gudea (2016) and Skip Cox (2017)
