PORTLAND, Maine — Diversified Communications acquired The Running Event in a deal with Formula4Media, LLC, that also includes an industry awards gala set to launch in June.

The former Trade Show Fastest 50 honoree will be placed under the oversight of Diversified Executive Vice President Bill Springer and the show’s current Event Manager Christine Henderson, who will join Diversified. Troy Leonard and Mark Sullivan, the co-owners of Formula4, will work as consultants through this year’s event.

“We were very excited when the owners of Formula4Media were open to our initial inquiry, and we are now very pleased to be working with them through the 2018 event to ensure a smooth transition,” said Diversified President & CEO Ted Wirth.

The Running Event takes place Nov. 27-30 at the Austin Convention Center and hosts manufacturers and retailers who cater to running enthusiasts. Last year’s show drew 2,500 attendees and 255 exhibitors. Diversified will make its debut in the running industry June 21-23 when it hosts the launch of the 50 Best Running Stores in America, an awards gala that will take place in Minneapolis as part of the Fleet Feet Annual Franchise Conference.
