  • The 413-room Fairmont in Washington’s tony Georgetown district wrapped up a $27 million renovation just in time for Inauguration Day.
  • The project’s highlight is a new 2,900 sf ballroom that will accommodate about 300 guests. The Fairmont also has 30,000 sf of meeting space.
  • CompuSystems has signed a two-year deal with Emergency Nurses Association
    for registration and lead retrieval services
  • Under the deal, the services will be provided duing Emergency Nursing 2017 and 2018.
  • California Assembly Bill 1887 that bans state-sanctioned travel to states with anti-LGBT laws took effect Jan. 1
  • The law, Assembly Bill 1887, was signed last September and applies to North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kansas
  • UFI says it will continue as co-host of the China Expo Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO) for “the coming years.”
  • UFI has co-hosted CEFCO since its launch 13 years ago. IAEE and SISO also co-host the conference, which this year drew 800 attendees.
  • Visit Sacramento President and CEO Steve Hammond is retiring this Summer. Hammond, who joined the bureau in 1999, steps down June 30.
  • A nationwide search will be conducted to replace Hammond. The plan is to have a replacement named sometime this Spring.
